If you have a patient who might benefit from working with a registered dietitian, I’d love to be a resource for your practice.
My focus is nutrition and mental health. Specifically, working with patients who are managing anxiety, depression, ADHD, burnout, or other behavioral health conditions alongside chronic diseases like diabetes, cardiovascular disease, or GI disorders. If you’re seeing the nutrition piece go unaddressed in your patients’ care, that’s exactly where I come in.
The referral process is simple.
I use a one-page referral form, and I ask that you include any relevant labs and pertinent medical records. That’s usually enough to get started.
Why refer to a dietitian?
One practical reason: time. Dietitian appointments run up to 90 minutes, which means I can do the kind of detailed lifestyle assessment, readiness evaluation, and goal-setting that rarely fits into a standard medical visit. You get more thorough follow-through on the nutrition side without it falling to you.
More importantly, it tends to improve outcomes. Consistent, personalized nutrition support is one of the most underleveraged tools in mental health and chronic disease management, and it’s the part of care that patients often can’t piece together on their own from general (or social media) advice.
Insurance accepted:
I currently accept BlueCross BlueShield, United Healthcare, Aetna, and Baylor Scott & White commercial plans.
I do not bill Medicaid or Medicare at this time. Cash pay options are available for patients without covered benefits.
Note: In Texas, Medicaid does not cover nutrition services for individuals over 19 years old, regardless of provider.
Interested in a case consult?
I offer one-hour case consultations for healthcare providers who want to think through a specific patient’s nutrition needs before or alongside a formal referral. If you’re unsure whether nutrition counseling is the right fit for a particular patient, or you’d like to talk through a complex case, I’m happy to get on a call.
